For this purpose, a qualitative study was carried out, approached from the socio-critical paradigm and participatory action research. In the exercise, praxeological aspects related to the components of the self-determination of students who manifest low academic performance and difficulties in school coexistence were revealed. Within the scope of the research process the promotion of a participatory action was carried out that promotes Self-Determination as a condition of quality of life in the school context of 9th grade students in an Official Educational Institution of Cartagena. The conception and implementation of classroom strategies that allow the transformation of coexistence and improve the academic performance of students, whether or not they have SEN, require a directive and academic-pedagogical management, committed to the provision of opportunities for human development. It is important to emphasize that the reader of the study will find a proposal for the evaluation of the Self-Determination duly validated, with the opportunity of replication in educational contexts that share similar characteristics..
