- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoEfecto de las cenizas volantes tratadas térmicamente como sustituto parcial del cemento en morteros(Universidad de San Buenaventura, 2014) Lugo Mayor, José David; Toro Perea, Edward FernandoIn this paper grade entitled "Effect of heat-treated fly ash as a partial replacement of cement in mortar," the effect of heat treatment in the fly ash of two sugar mills in the department of Valle del Cauca for possible use was studied as addition of cement mortars to evaluate the mechanical resistance to compression and consequent pozzolanic activity index properties. Prior to the heat treatment at two temperatures of 750 ° C and 900 ° C, the morphological, chemical and thermal characterization of fly ash was carried from the characterization techniques XRF, SEM, and TGA. Subsequent to this ashless mortars were prepared with untreated ash and heat-treated ash, which was substituted for 20% by weight of cement in order to evaluate the rate of pozzolanic activity at the age of 28 days and the mechanical resistance to three ages (14,28 and 60 days). The draft shows that statistically degree temperatures studied either be 750 ° C or 900 ° C increasing influence pozzolanic activity of the fly ashes and satisfactorily improve the mechanical properties of mortars.
- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoEstudio de las cenizas de fondo de caldera de bagazo y/o carbón como sustituto del clinker y/o adición para mortero por medio de tratamiento químico alcalino(Universidad de San Buenaventura, 2014) Solórzano Sánchez, Juan David; Toro Perea, Edward FernandoThis study evaluated the effect of chemical treatment on fly ash, where four types of ash from 2 mills was sampled to study the effect of an alkaline chemical treatment to help reduce the environmental impact caused by this residue, extracted from boilers cogenerate energy from water vapor, which is used as the combustion material sugarcane bagasse. Fly ash was characterized physically and chemically by ASTM C311, size distribution, XRD, XRF, SEM-EDS, TGA / DTG standard. Determining that the fly ash studied are type F according to ASTM C618 standard. It was found that such ash has high amount of unburned matter which can be removed by physical treatment, to improve their interaction with a cement matrix. Because the finer ash have greater chemical activity facilitating its activation, whereby a separation is necessary. The ashes were treated with sieving, heat treatment at high temperature (600-900 º C), and finally alkaline chemicals (NaOH, KOH). To study the compression behavior of the samples which showed chemical activation. From the ashes studied ash thick cane bagasse has the best chemical conditions for a pozzolan.
- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoEstudio del estado fresco de la mezcla de mortero con cenizas de caldera tratadas físicamente del sector azucarero(Universidad de San Buenaventura, 2014) Pérez Denhez, Rodrigo; Toro Perea, Edward FernandoThis research made her way to know what the behavior and the relationship of the properties of fresh mortars containing fly ash, providing an alternative to the construction industry and building a residue creating an added value, since there is no a clear and deep properties of mortars containing fly ash study. In this study the properties of the fresh state of mortars containing fly ash physically treated at 12 and 15 hours of milling was analyzed, relating their properties in the cured state of these mortars and observing the behavior of the different mixtures at short and long ages.
