- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoDesign of a protocol for the measurement of physiological and emotional responses to sound stimuli(2017) Macía Arango, Andrés Felipe; Ochoa Villegas, JonathanA protocol for the measurement of physiological and emotional responses to sound stimuli is presented. The sounds used in the study were created by comparing different methods and possible bandwidths. These sounds correspond to white noise filtered in 3 central frequencies, to know, 125 Hz, 500Hz, and 3150Hz, with a variable bandwidth based on 1/3 octaves. additionally, spatial information was given to the sounds by convolving them with a simulated binaural impulse response. Two experiments were conducted. The first one consisted of 3 sounds created at different sound pressure levels, between 50 dB and 80 dB in 6 steps. It was found that both valence and arousal changed as the level increased, the first one decreasing, and the last one increasing, showing a possible relation between elicited emotions from a sound and its sound pressure level. The second experiment presented both image and sound simultaneously. The sound corresponded to the same described above, at a fixed level of 65dB. The images were two, one with a positive semantic content, and the other with a negative one. Both images were taken from the IAPS (International Affective Picture System). Responses were measured with the self assessment manikin SAM and Noldus FaceReader technology. The results obtained with the SAM were not conclusive, probably due to sample size, experiment design and other factors. The results obtained with the FaceReader showed clear reactions from participants to the audiovisual.
- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoEmociones y clima organizacional(Universidad de San Buenaventura Cali, 2018) Muñoz Bran, Alexander; Sarria Molina, Diana Isabel; Molina Gómez, Carlos AlbertoLeaders often question themselves why their organizations do not achieve success if the entire organizational structure and the strategic plans are well thought. It happens that there are other type of forces that mobilize organizations; that configure and reconfigure them; that can facilitate the achievement of the objectives if leaders take them into account in the exercise of management or can obstruct the organizational dynamics and the attainment of the mentioned objectives if leaders ignore them. One of these forces seems to be the flow of emotions of the individuals in the organizations. If this is true, then it could be thought that all things that happen within organizations are crossed by emotions, which we suspect have an important impact on their dynamics, especially in the configuration of the organizational climate. This is a variable that influences people´s behavior and therefore intervenes in their relevant decisions, including the ones of the leaders.Apparently this has been understood by many senior managers who more or less conscious, have decided to incorporate practices into their management that help them to use this information in favor of the organizations they work for and their respective interests. Consequently, there is evidence of organizations -such as schools, churches, universities, offices, factories- where the subjectivities of those who work within them are managed, governed or manipulated.Let's show then what is happening in the real world of organizations through one of the lenses of subjectivity: The Emotions and their flow
- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoEmociones y convivencia escolar: retos y alcances para la educación básica secundaria(2020-09-28) Guzmán Mendoza, Darnelys Olivia; Llamas Orozco, Blanca Betty; Montes Rivera, GledysThe present investigation entitled "Emotions and School Coexistence: Challenges and Scopes for Basic Secondary Education" described the relationships between the management of emotions and school coexistence in Basic Secondary students and their teachers. At a juncture due to the global pandemic, it was observed that emotions are closely related to the experiences, thoughts and behaviors of human beings. Based on the hermeneutical-interpretive paradigm, using the case study, the stories and perceptions of 10 students and 4 teachers were analyzed, describing the relationships between the management of emotions and coexistence. The contributions of Goleman, Mayer and Salovey, Gardner, Chóliz. Fierro and Carbajal, allowed to elaborate a description of how emotions are manifested in the family and school environments, describing their relationships with school coexistence. Negative emotions, like positive ones, were found to be related to the experiences and conflicts of school coexistence. Negative emotions such as anger, fear and sadness have a more complicated handling than positive emotions such as happiness. This study made it possible to show that the country's curricular structures are more focused on responding to the needs of academic content and minimizing development and Emotional Intelligence. This aspect shows that deficiencies in social skills lead to inadequate conflict resolution, lack of empathy and poor emotional regulation
- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoEmotion experience: una herramienta para medir la experiencia de usuario en niños a través de las emociones(Universidad de San Buenaventura - Cali, 2017) Gutiérrez Beltrán, Erika Jissel; Duque Hoyos, Luis Andrés; Cano Mazuera, Sandra PatriciaIn this work we indentify the emotions that allow evaluate the children user experience, also we test the facial recognition techniques, with the purpose of set the most optimum algorithm to be implemented in the development of Emotion Experience system. As well, in the facial recognition proccess involves a data set that allows the training of the system through prior knowledge, therefore it is created a database of Children‘s face images where they are subjected to a pre-processing to meet the requirements and can be used by the recognition algorithms. The most optimal model for the recognition of emotions is designed and the prototype tests are carried out with the students of the Liceo San José educational institution. To evaluate facial recognition techniques, we have considered three variables that allow to measure the performance of each technique. These variables are defined by the time it takes the system to learn, the Euclidean distance and the error rate, which corresponds to the emotion recognition percentage, what will be discussed in the results and analysis chapter
- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoEstrategias metodológicas para el desarrollo de competencias emocionales en los niños y niñas de los grados 4° y 5° del colegio Liceo San Antonio(Universidad de San Buenaventura - Cali, 2018) Duque González, Catalina; Díaz Medina, María Camila; España Burbano, María Fernanda; Victoria Zuluaga, Jorge HumbertoThe present investigation has as an objective to propose strategies for the development of Emotional Competencies (Self-regulation, empathy, motivation and awareness of one's own emotions) in boys and girls of 4th and 5th grades of the Liceo San Antonio School, for this, first of all, it is proposed to identify the knowledge, with which the teachers counted, about the Emotional Competences. - PublicaciónAcceso abiertoEvaluating interactive systems from an emotional perspective(Universidad de San Buenaventura - Cali, 2014-01) Méndez Alegría, Yenny Alexandra; Collazos Ordóñez, César Alberto; Granollers Saltiveri, Antoni; Sánchez Huitr, J. AlfredoIn this paper, we introduce a model that aims to provide guidelines that will strengthen the evaluation of interactive systems by assisting in the identification and analysis of emotions evoked by users during system usage. We briefly discuss related projects that have included emotions in the evaluation of interactive systems. The research presented here is a preliminary work towards the inclusion of emotions during the evaluation of interactive systems. Our model is presented including details of each of its phases. We discussed preliminary results of the application of the model to evaluating a Virtual Learning Environment. Our approach comprises four major phases: Selection of relevant emotions; analysis of relationships between emotions and interactive systems; selection of detection mechanisms; and application of evaluation methods.
- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoFace-Reco. Diseño de un sistema para detección y análisis de rostros(Universidad de San Buenaventura. Cali, 2019) Girón Arias, Andrés Felipe; Chacón Peña, Juan Pablo; Cabezas Troyano, Iván MauricioThis project arises as a response to the current need to incorporate face recognition and analysis functionalities in the different software applications. During the execution of the project, a system was built that could detect and analyze faces. To analyze means that the system can determine the gender of the faces identified in the image and can determine an emotion according to the model of 6 basic emotions proposed by Ekman: joy, sadness, anger, surprise, disgust, fear, and a neutral state as the absence of emotion. In this document we formulated a project oriented to the detection and analysis of faces which developed an architecture oriented to web services, so that other developers incorporate functionalities of detection and analysis of faces can use in their systems.According to the results obtained, the greater precision of the system is associated with the emotion of happiness. The masculine gender presented greater errors in classification than the feminine gender. On the other hand, with the emotions of anger and fear, the performance of the system, in terms of classification power, decays. One of the areas in which a significant and growing use of this type of system is observed is related to mobile devices and virtual humans.
