- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoAprendizaje y contextualización de problemas matemáticos(2020-09-21) Martínez Ochoa, Rosiris del Carmen; Garzón Galindo, PilarThe work presented is part of the research carried out with second-semester students from the University of Cartagena at the EL Carmen de Bolívar Tutorial Center with the purpose of analyzing learning when mathematical problems are contextualized. In the research work, the study was carried out with a population of 40 students, applying a qualitative approach with action research methodology, using observation as a technique and observation sheets as an instrument. The theoretical foundations were framed in meaningful learning, and the contextualization of mathematical problems. The results lead to strengthen the learning of mathematical knowledge from the solution of problems in a contextualized way in the contents that are developed taking into account the profession that has to be faced in the labor market, in our case for financial administrators, a program that makes part of the faculty of economics.
- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoFactores que inciden en el rendimiento académico de las matemáticas en el tránsito de la educación media a la educación universitaria: programa de economía universidad de Cartagena(2019-10-24) Caraballo Ledesma, Diana Liz; Cardona Sánchez, Walter; Herrera Llamas, Jorge AntonioThis research analyzes the factors affecting the academic performance of mathematics in the transition from secondary education to the University of Cartagena’s economic program between the years 2010-2017, which of course offers a different level of mathematics. The analysis was developed through the examination of the Colombian educational system at different levels of education: elementary, secondary, and technical. It allows us to illustrate the state of the educational system in terms of regulations, coverage, dropout rates, and academic performances in mathematics. This information was analyzed according to the Decree 1075 of 2015 through which the single regulatory decree of the education sector is issued, the Statistical Yearbook of Colombian Higher Education 2010 - 2016 obtained from the national higher education information system (SNIES), the socio-demographic study of the population (students) enrolled in the first period of 2019 who attend the first five semesters of the economics program of the University of Cartagena. In addition, the pedagogical processes developed incidence of mathematics performance in student dropout in the economics program. All the previous information was taken from the institutional documents of the university under study which are the fifth edition statistical bulletin (2010 x - 2017) and PEI. On the other hand, the study population was characterized through a representative sample of students of the economics program and interviews of teachers who guide the quantitative component through the Delphi method due to their quality of experts. Similarly, the incidence of performance in mathematics in student dropout was examined, all this based on Becker's theory of human capital (1964), concluding that the information that students have at the time of the choice about economics is insufficient. In addition, the lack of preparation in high school about mathematics makes students dropout and poor performance in mathematics
