- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoEstado del arte de sistemas de recuperación de aceites lubricantes usados para la producción de diésel(2019-05-25) Ramírez Wilches, Laura Sofía; Rodríguez Beltrán, José Luis; Matute Thowinson, AdalbertoUsed lubricating oils are considered as a hazardous waste under Colombian legislation. The practices for disposal of these residues must be proper, in order to avoid the contamination of air, soil and water bodies. Worldwide, there are 1 billion vehicles, and it is estimated that these will double by 2030. With this increase, the consumption of lubricant bases is worrisome with the environmental impact associated to their residues. This document presents the state of the art of the existing technologies for the recovery of these residues and their processing to obtain fuels such as diesel. The literature review based in specialized databases and repositories of universities, allowed to identify which technologies are more suitable to the panorama of generation of lubricating oils in Colombia. These wastes can be used in the process of energy cogeneration, and also can be regenerated by physicochemical processes and solvent extraction, as well as being reprocessed to obtain fuels. The reprocessing of these hazardous wastes can be done by distillation, thermal and catalytic cracking, hydrocracking and pyrolysis; being the thermal and catalytic cracking the most technologically feasible options for the country, as will be explained in this paper.
