Abstract
The present work seeks to describe the legal and social context in which femicide is located, from a regional and local level, this being understood as the murder of a woman because she is a woman. The methodology used was that of documentary review, as well as the analysis of statistical data which allows to have a general overview of the question addressed. Finally, it concludes with concern the need to make the status of women visible in social contexts that in one way or another promote discrimination and violence, in order to ensure the guarantee of their fundamental rights, which is not reduced only To the availability of criminal types in the domestic legal system, but to state structural efforts that transform naturalized cultural practices, which affect the role of women in society.

El presente trabajo busca describir el contexto legal y social en el que se ubica el feminicidio, desde un ámbito regional y local, entendiéndose este como el asesinato de una mujer por el hecho de ser mujer. La metodología utilizada fue la de revisión documental, así como el análisis de datos estadísticos el cual permite tener un panorama general de la cuestión abordada. Finalmente, se concluye, con preocupación, la necesidad de visibilizar la condición de la mujer en contextos sociales que de una u otra forma promueven la discriminación y violencia, con el fin de procurar la garantía de sus derechos fundamentales, la cual no se reduce solo a disponibilidad de tipos penales en el ordenamiento jurídico interno, sino a esfuerzos estatales estructurales que transformen prácticas culturales naturalizadas, las cuales incidan en el rol de la mujer en la sociedad.
