Resumen en español
This article is a proposal for an adaptation of the business model theory of Gary Hamel, applied to small companies in the metalworking sector, in order to improve their competitiveness in an environment where the companies that come to compete in the Colombian market are those with whose countries FTAs have been signed, countries located in the top ten ranking of the competitiveness ranking. This implies that these small companies must be prepared to compete with strong innovation. The proposal includes a step by step that small metal-mechanic companies must implement to be more creative, innovative and competitive; a link is included between the business model of Gary Hamel and the strategic maps of Norton and Kaplan with a Balanced Scored Card, with examples based on qualitative research to companies in the sector. Although the proposal includes a template designed in Excel, this article aims to explain to the entrepreneur how he can improve his competitiveness in a practical and applied way to his company.
