Abstract
This research was conducted to learn about the significance that give four (4) people, between thirty and thirty-five years old in the city of Cali, by causing an accident, in order to analyze which have been the symbolic productions of subjects, and discover the degree of influence of the cultural environment in the significance given to the accident and to identify if areas of life of the subjects were transformed. To obtain the information, they were performed semi-structured interviews and for the analysis we worked two categories: Production or symbolic representation, which includes the sub categories of family environment, social environment and spiritual environment, and the category of Trauma, which has the sub categories: damage and challenge.

La presente investigación se realizó para conocer la significación que le dan cuatro (4) personas, entre treinta y treinta y cinco años de edad, de la ciudad de Cali, al ocasionar un accidente de tránsito, con el fin de analizar cuáles han sido las producciones simbólicas de los sujetos y descubrir el grado de influencia que tiene el entorno cultural en la significación que ellos dan al accidente, así como identificar si se transformaron ámbitos de la vida de estos sujetos. Se presentan dos categorías: Producción o Representación simbólica, que incluye las sub categorías de entorno familiar, entorno social y entorno espiritual, y la categoría de Trauma, que tiene las sub categorías: daño y desafío.
