Abstract
This article develops a critical interpretation of the book Fires, particularly of the tales whose stories correspond to the noble characters and the heroes of the mythical Greek world. In these, the different transformations of the myth that originate in Greece in the archaic period are explored as a rite until its poetic rework in the tragedy corresponding to the classical period. Then, it will be understood how the myth in Modernity is treated literarily from the German Romantics, in its "rediscovery" of Classical Antiquity, until the corresponding period in the twentieth century to the interwar period, whose changes and ethical and aesthetic implications are the product of European history to which the work and the author Marguerite Yourcenar belong. For this, a hermeneutical methodology is used, that through a documentary review allows a mythological, historical and sociological reading of the phenomena that occur in the rewriting and reinterpretation of myths. Finally, the concepts of myth, tragedy, romanticism and modernity are reviewed - this last central nucleus in the analysis - to understand the ethical implications of the return to myth in contemporary times.

Este artículo desarrolla una interpretación crítica del libro Fuegos particularmente de los cuentos cuyas historias corresponden a los personajes nobles y a los héroes del mundo mítico griego. En estos se exploran las diferentes transformaciones del mito que se origina en Grecia en el periodo arcaico como rito hasta su reelaboración poética en la tragedia correspondiente al periodo clásico. Luego, se comprenderá cómo es tratado literariamente el mito en la Modernidad a partir de los Románticos alemanes, en su “redescubrimiento” de la Antigüedad Clásica, hasta el periodo correspondiente en el siglo XX al periodo de entreguerras, cuyos cambios e implicaciones éticas y estéticas son producto de la historia europea a la que pertenece la obra y la autora Marguerite Yourcenar. Para esto, se recurre a una metodología hermenéutica que por medio de una revisión documental permite una lectura mitológica, histórica y sociológica de los fenómenos que se dan en la reescritura y reinterpretación de los mitos. Por último, se revisan los conceptos del mito, la tragedia, el romanticismo y la modernidad –este último núcleo central en el análisis–, para comprender las implicaciones éticas que conlleva el retorno al mito en la época contemporánea.
